Seven Rivers supports multiple missionaries in
Belize:
Belize Team
Vision Statement
To promote
God’s kingdom in Belize by laboring with the national church
in its movement of establishing and strengthening churches
that are vibrant, mature and reproducing.
The
ministries in Belize include:
evangelism, church planting, developing national leaders,
Christian and theological education, meeting medical and
mercy needs, assisting in the development of
micro-enterprises, as well as utilizing short-term teams and
partnerships with churches in the PCA. There are currently
15 Presbyterian churches (organized and mission) in the
Presbyterian Church in Belize. Most of these churches are in
small villages in the northern part of the country.
Belize
December Prayer Calendar
Physician Needed
As the date for Dr. Smith’s Home Ministry Assignment
approaches there is still no physician in application with
MTW to fill this need for the clinic. The application
process is lengthy and time is short. If you know of a
Christian physician who could possibly serve at the clinic
please contact the MTW office.
Marshall’s Update
Craig Marshall has received a call from Golden Isle PCA on
St. Simons Island, GA which will be finalized by a
congregational vote on December 7. He will be preaching one
more time (Nov. 23) with a congregational luncheon
following. We join with the Marshalls in their joy and ask
for continued prayer for their transition into a new place
of service.
The Belize Partnership Annual Meeting
The four churches which comprise the MTW Belize Partnership
met in Myrtle Beach on November 14 and 15. The churches are
Village Seven Presbyterian Church, East Cobb Presbyterian
Church, and Surfside Presbyterian Church. The discussion
revolved around future ministry plans as to the direction
the MTW Belize team should pursue and areas of ministry that
should be completed within the next two years. This was a
good time of fellowship, discussion, and planning for the
Belize ministry.
Belize Team Retreat
Friday, November 21-23, the Belize team will travel to Playa
del Carmen, Mexico for a spiritual retreat. This will be a
time of fellowship, worship, rest, recreation, and messages
from God’s Word. This will also be a time for the Belize
Team to meet Pastor Julian Riddle and his wife Debbie. The
Riddles have agreed to serve as the pastor at large for the
Belize Team. The MTW pastor at large program seeks to pair
PCA pastors with an MTW team to serve as pastor for the team
members. This is a great program that allows missionaries to
be encouraged in their spiritual growth and counseled in any
personal needs.
Finally Drying Out
After record setting rain fall for September and October,
Belize is finally drying out. All but one main road is
reopened and work has begun on the secondary roads. There
are still several villages along rivers that are under water
as people await the opportunity to return and assess the
damage. Pray for the many affected by the flooding and for
the agricultural industry as they have been hit hard again
this year by rain rather than a hurricane. The start of the
sugarcane harvest has been delayed as most of the cane
fields are too muddy to allow for harvesting.
-
Pray that God will supply a physician to serve at the
Presbyterian Medical Clinic.
-
Pray for the MTW Belize Team retreat November
21-23. Also pray for Julian and Debbie Riddle as they
minister to the team.
-
Pray for the pastors of the Presbyterian Church in
Belize (PCB): Rafael Ku, Arturo Mendez, and Nilo
Rios. Ask God to empower their ministries and to give
them a new vision and passion for the church and for
those who do not know Christ.
-
Praise for God’s call to Craig Marshall at Golden Isle
Presbyterian Church. Pray for the family as they move
and settle in to their new ministry and home.
-
Pray for the economic situation in Belize as people are
affected by the flooding and also affected by the world
economic crisis.
-
Pray that God would raise up ruling elders, deacons, and
pastors for the Presbyterian Church in Belize, men who
have a vision and a passion for the church and the
unreached. Ask God to call men to prepare for the
ministry and for a renewed passion among the existing
leaders.
-
Praise God for small group Bible studies that have begun
and ask God to give a desire particularly to men to
become involved in Bible study/discipleship groups.
-
Pray for Scott Arensman as he finishes his teaching
assignment at Cornerstone high School and transitions
into small group Bible Study group formation and
ministry.
-
Pray for the Belize Team that each of us will be
actively sharing the Gospel message and motivating and
training others to do so. Let us trust God to bring a
great harvest and to build His Church in Belize.
-
Prayer is appreciated for the transition of field
leadership as the Summers prepare to begin Home Ministry
Assignment in January. Ask God to give Marc Summers
wisdom as he prepares to leave and for Garry Chambers as
he begins to take more of the administrative role from
Marc.
-
Pray for Julian Zugg as he teaches and prepares courses
for the Belize Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Pray
for the students and ministry candidates that God would
prepare godly men to lead the church in Belize.
-
Pray for the Summers family as they prepare for Home
ministry Assignment (HMA). Ask God to give them wisdom
as they prepare for the move and as they make closure
with their friends and ministry partners.
