November 2008
Pastor Alvaro
recently used a narrow, makeshift “bridge,” hastily built
over a washed out section of road to illustrate the danger
of “falling off” the path of God’s truth. In my ladies Bible
study; we are hearing the same message as we work through
Tim Keller’s study of Galatians. How easily we turn from
trusting Christ ALONE for our salvation to thinking we
“need” to do something to earn God’s favor. How much of our
anxiety and fear comes from a wrong understanding of how we
are God’s adopted heirs, His much loved sons and daughters!
Nothing can take us from His hand. As I sit and reflect on
the problems facing the churches and schools in Belize—of
which there are many—and as I look at my own failings, it
seems to me that not much can happen in a person’s life, or
in a school or church until they truly “get” this truth. And
it cannot be just a verbal “I get it.” A heart-changing,
life-transforming “I get it” is needed. I was so moved
recently by MTW Bible teacher Scott Arensman’s email sharing
his passion for the high school students at Cornerstone to
truly “get it.” I want to pass on his email to you in the
hope that it will move you to pray more fervently for a life
transforming understanding of God’s grace for “our kids” in
Belize—and indeed for all of us here!

Thanks!
God is faithful and I am
grateful.
