The First Impressions ministry of Seven Rivers exists to provide
the warmest atmosphere possible, for guests and members
alike. It has been said first impressions make
lasting impressions and we know this is true when a guest
comes to our church for the first time. Our goal is to
make every person who comes through our doors feel
like a part of the family.
"Welcome
one another in the Lord with great joy." Philippians
2:29a (NIV)
As a member of the First Impressions team you will be given
an assignment at the service of your choice for one month,
two to three times per year. It's a great way to be
involved and serve the Kingdom. Not to mention it's
loads of fun!
As a part of this team,
the most important thing
you can do is SMILE and let people know we are delighted
they are here!
Ways to get involved:
The Bookstore Team is the place for you if you love books
and helping people that love books. Complete training will
be supplied. The bookstore is open 30 minutes before and
after each service, so you will need to arrive about 30
minutes prior to the beginning of the service you are
assigned to and plan to stay about 30 minutes after the
service.
You’ll have a blast in the coffee bar serving people frozen
drinks, specialty coffees, and yummy treats. As a member of
the Coffee Bar Team you will serve folks that come to the
Coffee Bar. Complete training will be supplied. You will
need to arrive about 30 minutes prior to the beginning of
the service you are assigned to for set up and preparation
and plan to stay about 45 minutes after the service for
serving and clean up.
From time-to-time at Seven Rivers we have large events that
may involve the whole church or a demographic of the church.
Members of the Events Team work with an event coordinator in
a variety of jobs including, but not limited to set up,
decorating, cooking, serving food, and clean up.
Guest Services Desk
(Main Entrance)
You are
the place guests come for answers. (We will do our best to keep you
informed!) The Guest Services Desk at the main entrance
serves as the place first time guests come to pick-up
their first-time guest gifts. A guide is assigned to you
at the Guest Services Desk that can accompany folks to where
they need to go. You are asked to be at the desk you are
assigned to 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the service
and remaining at the desk 10 minutes after the service
begins. Then returning to the desk immediately
following the service and staying for about 20 minutes. The monthly
First Impressions schedule will be at either desk, in case someone
is not sure where he or she is assigned.
Next Step Desk
(Main Entrance)
The Next Step Desk is the
place people come to find out about taking the Next Step
at Seven Rivers. This might be joining a small group,
volunteering for a ministry team, signing up for Feast and
Fests...the list goes on. We will do our best to give you
all the information necessary to help people and answer
their questions. Typically there will be a staff or lay
person at this desk with you that can answer questions
specifically related to Small Groups. You are asked to be at
the desk 10 minutes prior to the beginning of the
service and then returning to the desk immediately
following the service and staying for about 20 minutes.
Greeter
(East, West, Main Entrance - Interior Doors)
You will greet folks as they arrive and hand
them a bulletin. You should plan to be at the door you are
assigned to (the big wood doors that lead into the
sanctuary) 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the service,
remaining there 10 minutes after the service begins. (Once
the service begins, the main entrance doors will be
closed—if you are greeting at the main entrance please ask
folks to enter at either the east or west entrance.)
Greeter
(West, Main Entrance - Outer Doors)
You may be the first
contact a person has as they arrive at Seven Rivers! You
will open the door and greet folks as they arrive. You
should plan to be at the door you are assigned to (glass
outer door) 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the
service, remaining there 10 minutes after the service
begins.
Guide (Guest
Services Desk)
Rather
than pointing someone in a direction, it is so much
friendlier to actually take them -
this is the function of the guide. You will
wait at the desk and be available to accompany folks
anywhere they need to go. It also gives you a chance
to talk and introduce them to people you may know, along the
way. As soon as you have them where they need to go, and
have introduced them to someone, you will come back to your
assigned desk. While you wait for someone that may need to
be escorted you are encouraged to greet people in your area. Plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the
service and stay 10 minutes after the service begins.
Hospitality (Florida Room)
Coffee is available in the
Florida Room after each service. Your job will be to
get things set up prior to the service and then come back as
the service closes to oversee things (mainly, chat and watch people
enjoy each other). If you plan to attend the service
you are working in, you will need to arrive 30 minutes
prior to the beginning of the service to get things set-up
and make coffee. Detailed instructions will be posted in the
kitchen area of the FL Room.
Ushers assist
with seating, offering collection and passing out attendance
pads. As a member of the usher team you will serve for one
month at the service of your choice approximately three
times per year. This is a vital position on the First
Impressions team, helping people to feel welcome and at
home.
