Special Guest Speaker:
Dr. Robert K. Flayhart
Senior Pastor, Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church, Birmingham,
AL
Born and raised in central
Pennsylvania, Dr. Robert K. Flayhart holds a B.S. in
Quantitative Business Analysis from Penn State University, a
Masters of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity
School, and a Doctor of Ministry from Covenant Theological
Seminary. His dissertation project focused on
Gospel-Centered Mentoring.
Dr. Flayhart served with Campus Crusade
for Christ at Florida State University from 1982-1985. He
assisted in a church planting effort on the North Shore of
Chicago during his seminary years, 1985-1988. In 1989,
Briarwood Presbyterian Church called him to plant a daughter
church, Oak Mountain Presbyterian, which had its first
service on Palm Sunday of that same year. He has served as
Senior Pastor for the past 18 years.
Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church has
grown to approximately 2,200 in membership and currently
employs over 100 full-time and part-time staff. In 1999,
the church opened Oak Mountain Classical School. The school
has a current enrollment of 360 students in grades K5 -12.
Dr. Flayhart serves on the board of
Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO and has
served on the Board of Immanuel Counseling Ministries in
Birmingham, AL. He has also served in the PCA as Chairman
and as a member of Evangel Presbytery’s MNA committee and
has served on the General Assembly’s Committee of
Commissioners for Administration and Bills and Overtures.
Dr. Flayhart and his wife, Laurie, were
married in April 1984 and have three children, Joshua, 19,
Hannah, 17, and Michael, 15.
