January 1983: A handful of people began meeting in Dr. Sam Miller’s living room for Bible study. They dreamed of a church in Citrus County that would be characterized by sound Bible teaching, evangelism, missions, and the strengthening of families.

June 1983: Ray and Diane Cortese were called to pastor the small group, then meeting in the cafeteria of the Crystal River Middle School.

May 1984: The first 34 members were received.

November 1984: The church was officially organized as Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church, Inc. Dr. Miller and Ted Santana were ordained and installed as ruling elders. There were 63 members. Average Sunday attendance was 100.

January 1986: Eleven acres were purchased on State Road 44, centrally located in Citrus County, one mile west of the traffic light in Lecanto.

June 1986: Jim Cole was hired as our full-time Assistant Pastor.

June 1987: Ground was broken on the first of several buildings in the church’s 15-year master site plan.

December 1987: The first worship service in the new building on its own land was held Christmas eve. Sunday attendance was averaging 270.

July 1988: Jim Taylor was hired as full-time Music Director .

August 1988: Seven Rivers Christian School opened with 29 students.

June 1989: Rob Pendley was hired as full-time Youth Director.

December 1990: The first annual Christmas program offered to the community, The Many Moods of Christmas, was held at Curtis Peterson Auditorium—over 1,150 were present.

July 1991: A full-time School Administrator was hired. Enrollment for the year was 96, over three times what it was when it opened four years earlier.

December 1992: Seven Rivers moved into its new 750-seat auditorium and office complex with an adjacent athletic field, additional parking, and infant nurseries.

January 1993: A full-time Children’s Ministry Director was hired.

July 1994: A full-time Church Administrator was hired.

October 1994: A full-time Assistant Youth Director was hired.

December 1994: The fifth annual Many Moods of Christmas was performed twice in one evening to over 1,400 people, parts of which were filmed by ABC News, Day One.

June 1995: Ron Brown was hired as a second full-time Assistant Pastor, this time for the express purpose of strengthening the church's ability to disciple and to care for its needy. Along with additions made from time to time in secretarial and maintenance staff, full-time and part-time staff positions now totaled 21.

August 1995: Seven Rivers Christian School hired its first Primary School Principal, added a second unit of kindergarten and a 7th Grade, and started the year with an enrollment of 217.

August 1996: At a cost of $1.85 million, 23,802 square feet of additional education space was added to the existing auditorium (8,000 square feet to be finished as needed in two years), along with furnishings, a new gym floor, an organ, kitchen equipment, and improved landscaping. School enrollment jumped to 265 with the addition of Grades 8 and 9.

February 1997: We implemented our first Saturday evening worship. Weekend attendance for the month of February averaged 1,250, an immediate increase of 200 over our annual average for 1996.

August 1997: With the addition of Grade 10, school enrollment was approaching 300.

August 1998: Grade 11 was added, and we had two units each of K5, First, Second, and Third Grades. School enrollment shot to 354 making Seven Rivers Christian School the largest private school in Citrus County.

October 1998: We sponsored the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Choir from Ukraine, bringing international culture to the stage at Rock Crusher Canyon for its inaugural use. Approximately 2,000 people attended.

December 1998: At a cost of $402,000, the third floor of the Education Wing was completed, providing close to 8,000 square feet of additional space. The single biggest improvement was doubling the size of our science room.

October 1999: Seven Rivers sends members to begin Nature Coast Community Church in Homosassa.

April 2000: Seven Rivers congregation pledged 3.5 million toward the building of our first sanctuary.

May 2000: Seven Rivers Christian School graduated its first class of seven students.

April 2001: Angel Richard was hired as Director of Women's Ministries. Joel Satterly was hired as Headmaster of SRCS.

May 2001: Seven Rivers Christian School graduated eighteen students.

May 2002: Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on our new sanctuary site.

June 2002: Seven Rivers Christian School graduated its third class of thirteen students.

October 2003: Seven Rivers sends members to begin Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Inverness.

December 2003: First services held in our new sanctuary.

July 2004: Seven Rivers provides funds to build Rwengoma New Life Presbyterian Church in Ft. Portal, Uganda.

November 2004: Seven Rivers celebrates her 20th birthday.

March 2005: Seven Rivers donates $35,000 to Mission to the World for a Vocational Training Center for Street Children in the Philippines.

March 2006: Seven Rivers donates $40,000 to Mission to the World to assist with the completion of Cornerstone Presbyterian High School in Belize.

May 2006: Seven Rivers Christian School, with an enrollment of 380 students, graduates twenty-one seniors.

March 2009: Seven Rivers celebrates her 25th birthday.
