Dick
and Barbara Johnson went on a short-term mission trip to Ft.
Portal, Uganda in 1995. They worked with Pastor
Sam Kasule
of the New Life Presbyterian Church, and their hearts were
broken over the great number children that have been
orphaned due to the AIDS epidemic. Many extended families of
relatives have taken these orphans in, but because of the
added financial burden, education for the children has
become impossible. As a result of this trip to Uganda, Dick
and Barbara became the U.S. coordinators of
the
Good Samaritan Sponsorship Project. This
program works with World Harvest Mission and Pastor Sam
Kasule.
There are currently 166 children sponsored through the Good
Samaritan Project. The $28 a month sponsorship fee
pays for tuition, clothing and other expenses needed for a
child to attend school in Uganda. The Ugandan Good Samaritan
Project is currently in its 13th year of operation. Many
students completing the project have gone on to college and
some have returned to their communities as teachers.
If you would like to sponsor a child, download and complete
the
Good Samaritan Sponsorship Form. You may receive further
