### The Psalms have been called "the prayerbook" and "the hymnbook" of the people of God.

They address the whole range of human emotions: joy, sadness, fear, anger, anxiety, etc. **Saints throughout the ages have turned to the Psalms for hope and comfort, especially in times of trouble.**

> Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)

Charles Spurgeon once said, "The Bible in the memory is better than the Bible in the bookcase." Memorizing scripture is equally rewarding and challenging.

Here is an aid to help you:

[Seedbed Psalter](http://psalms.seedbed.com/) lets you set any of the Psalms to the tune of a well-known hymn, so you can immediately start singing and memorizing God's Word!

Try starting with:

- [Psalm 1 / "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee"](http://psalms.seedbed.com/psalm-1/#1466601299168-9de10d5f-af62)
- [Psalm 46 / "O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing"](http://psalms.seedbed.com/psalm-46/#1498047376997-73e6573d-1480)
- [Psalm 100 / "O God, Our Help In Ages Past"](http://psalms.seedbed.com/psalm-100/#1499088465999-c2e788f7-6195)
- [Psalm 139 / "Amazing Grace"](http://psalms.seedbed.com/psalm-139/#1466804648862-6328d980-2a48521e-bc72)
