What is Student Life (Youth Group)?

Student Life is an intentional space for students and their friends to gather in the middle of the week to do life together and experience the Gospel. We like to describe it as a place where students who don’t know Jesus can encounter the Gospel for the first time and a place where students who do know Jesus can bring their friends to hear about him.

We have two meetings a week, one for Middle School students and one for High School students. It’s a time to be in fellowship, to laugh, to worship, and to study the Bible. It’s a place where students can be real about who they are and the stories they bring with them, so that we can help provide real answers to the questions, hurts, struggles, and joys that life as a teen can bring.

During the school year Student Life Wednesdays run from 5:30-7:00 pm for Middle School students and 7:00-8:30 pm for High School students. All Student Life meetings are held in the Student Ministry Building (SMB) on the Seven Rivers Church campus. This is the tan building close to Gulf to Lake Highway. Students enter around the back down the stairs behind the basketball and beach volleyball courts.

What happens during Student Life?

At the beginning of the night students have free time to hang out, eat food (The Snack Shack) and play basketball or volleyball. Then the leaders gather the students for a time of organized games, worship, a gospel centered talk and time for prayer. At the end of the night the students play dodge ball.

What do you need to bring to Student Life?
  • Bible, pen and notebook
  • Money to purchase food ($1 each: soda, candy, chips, pizza)

Parent Check-In for Middle School Student Life: Drop student off at the check-in gate behind the volleyball court and basketball court. There will be a Student Life leader to check your Middle School student in at the gate. You don’t even have to get out of your car. When picking up your Middle School student please drive up to the gate and notify the Student Life leader at the gate. The Student Life leader will radio down to the team inside to send out your student. You are more than welcome to come inside and check-in or pick-up your student.

Who leads Student Life?

All of the staff and volunteers are background checked, fingerprinted and have signed a child protection policy. There are adult leaders and student leaders present at each Student Life meeting. The leaders enforce a zero tolerance policy for any behavior that may be considered bullying.

We want to cultivate an environment where students feel welcome, encouraged, supported and loved by the staff, volunteers and other students. If you have any questions or issues that you feel need to be addressed please be sure to speak to a SRSM Staff member so we are aware of the issue. We know that the experiences that they have in these difficult teenage years can shape them into the future so we want to partner with you in as many ways as possible to help you and your student have a positive experience and feel like we are all part of this amazing church family at SRPC.
