Seven Rivers Church Leadership Gathering
Dear Seven Rivers Leaders,
Have you ever failed to appreciate something that was right in front of you because you were distracted?
Distracted drivers, distracted parents, distracted workers, and distracted spouses are just a few examples, and the consequences can range from just unfortunate to life-altering. But what happens if a church gets distracted? What happens when the bride of Christ forgets why she exists and where she is headed?
Our culture is full of distractions that can lure us away from our mission: social media, politics, the stock market, sports, vacation homes, fame, and success. Religion can also become a distraction. We can get so caught up in doing things for God, that we forget our primary calling to be with God.
I myself am prone to gospel ADD, and the greatest remedy to my distracted heart is gathering with my brothers and sisters corporately to sing, pray, hear from God’s word, and fellowship together. Of course, we do this every weekend, but it’s also good to set aside special times as leaders.
As we start a new church year, my aim is to clear any distractions and re-focus us on our mission: bringing the healing love of Jesus to broken people and broken places. I am inviting you to join the pastors, staff, elders, deacons, small group leaders, volunteers, and the rest of the leadership of Seven Rivers Church for a Kick-Off Vision Night. We’ll worship, lay out our goals for 2024-25, pray together, and finally enjoy some yummy desserts.
God is doing an amazing work in our midst – our church and community are experiencing historic growth. Let’s not miss what’s right in front of us because of distraction.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness… –Matthew 6:33
