J.R.R. Tolkien, the author of The Lord of the Rings, was a good friend of C.S. Lewis, and their conversations about the role of myth and imagination in literature led to Lewis' conversion to Christianity in 1931. In 1950 Lewis began composing the series, The Chronicles of Narnia.
