HS Midwinter 2024

The High School Winter Ski Trip is a time for us to gather as a church and have a lot of fun while we grow in grace together! We will be heading to Boone, NC and staying at Lutherock Camp & Conference Center. We will be doing TWO days of skiing at Sugar Mountain.

Where are we staying?

We will be staying at the Lutherock Camp & Conference Center in Newland, NC right outside Boone. Come enjoy the nice crisp weather while we spend time together lodging and skiing Sugar Mountain for two days.

DETAILS

  • Dates: January 12-15, 2024
  • Times: Check-in at the Children's Ministry Lobby at 6:00 am, Friday, January 12 (PARENT OR GUARDIAN REQUIRED TO CHECK STUDENT IN) | Return to SMB on Monday, January 15 around 9:00 pm. We will send updates on the way.
  • Who: 9, 10, 11, and 12th graders
  • Where: Lutherock Camp & Conference Center
  • How much:
    Regular Registration (begins November 1)
    Skiing = $435 (full payment due when you register)
    Snowboarding = $450 (full payment due when you register)
  • Transportation: We will be taking passenger vans rented through Enterprise

What should I bring?

  • Bible
  • Notebook
  • Pen
  • $40 cash for stops on the drive there and back
  • Linens (Bedding/Sleeping Bag)
  • Pillow
  • Flashlight
  • Toiletries (toothpaste, shampoo, soap, and deodorant)
  • Towel
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Clothing
  • Winter clothes (It is likely to snow)
  • Any ski gear you have
  • Water bottle
  • If you want to buy any food or drinks at the ski lodge, bring cash -- they were pricey last year, and it will most likely be more expensive. 

What should I leave at home?

  • weapons of any kind (including but not limited to knives/switchblades, guns, tasers, pepper spray, etc.)

*This trip is about connecting with the Gospel and disconnecting from our electronics, so all phones/electronics will be confiscated at the start of the trip by our leaders BUT leaders will allow the students to use leader phones as needed to call parents/guardians at any time during the trip. You can also call or text the leaders to check-in on your student! The phones will be returned before we make the drive back.
