grow in grace

Grace = God’s undeserved favor through the work of Christ
Grow = To increase or mature in some way

"You are more sinful than you could ever dare imagine and you are more loved and accepted than you could ever dare hope” —Tim Keller

Grace is not the ABC’s of Christianity, it’s the A-Z. it’s not a doorway to walk through but a hallway or gold mine to explore. We must not only receive God’s grace in conversion, but we must grow up in grace so that the gospel takes root and the healing love of Jesus seeps into every broken area in our lives.
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:18)
Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation — if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. (1 Peter 2:2-3)

What are the benefits of growing in grace?

1. Growing in God’s grace builds a foundation for your life.
...he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. (Luke 6:48)
...until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood… so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather… we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, (Ephesians 4:13-15)

2. Growing in God’s grace satisfies your soul, leading to your joy and flourishing.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare." (Isaiah 55:1-2)

Supremacy of God - Emphasizing God’s sovereignty over all things everywhere, to the end that God is glorified in all things (See the "5 Solas”)
Scripture - All of Scripture is inerrant, authoritative, sufficient to know God, and one story of God’s grace given through Jesus
Salvation - We are totally depraved and saved completely by God’s grace alone. (See “Ordo Salutis” and “The 5 Points of Reformed Theology”)
Covenants - God saves his people through one covenant of grace, which is revealed through covenants of promise (to Noah, Abraham, Moses, David), all building toward the fulfillment of God’s promise through the New Covenant in Christ
Church - God’s people make up all believers throughout history, marked by the two sacraments and church discipline, led by the offices of elders and deacons, with Christ-centered worship and Biblical preaching
Calling - All of life is God’s and he uses our unique vocation to govern and care for his world, giving a holy value and purpose to every calling in order to bring glory to God
